Or go to the Canadian Association of Movers (CAM) website to find a list of professional, credible movers in your area. All CAM members must adhere to the association’s service standards and a code of conduct.

Other Moving Services Available:

Packing and Unpacking Service

The movers pack your home using specialized moving boxes and plain newsprint paper. If you are on a budget, consider having the movers pack only your breakables like dishes, glassware, and china. The charges for this service vary based on the type of move and the location. It may be based on the number of boxes packed (unit basis) or based on the weight of the shipment (per 100 lb basis).

Any cartons the mover packed will be unpacked at your new home. Unpacking may be done the same day as the move-in day or the day after, depending on the number of cartons.

Crating Services

Crating service is available for precious and fragile items such as small tables, paintings, vases, pottery, etc. The mover will take measurements and build a custom wooden crate.

Moving Automobiles, ATVs, Boats

Depending on the time of year and the size, they may be loaded on the trailer with your household goods or shipped by a rail carrier the moving company has vetted and partnered with. The mover will give you a quote on this service.

Storage

Storage In transit – this option is for short-term storage up to 90 days from your move date. The charges are based on the weight of your shipment and the area of the country.

Long-term Storage

When you need storage on a long-term basis (over 90 days). There are monthly storage charges, and warehouse handling charges to bring the shipment into and out of the warehouse, and loading the shipment into wooden pallets. The delivery out of storage is usually charged on an hourly basis.

Appliance Servicing

Appliances need to be serviced for moving, including blocking and bracing the drums. The mover can arrange for this service. Once your shipment arrives at your new home, appliance servicing will be arranged to hook up the appliances and unblock the drums at your new home. This does not include gas appliance hookups that a licensed gas technician needs to do. The mover will provide a quote for this service based on the number of appliances to service and the area of the country.

Cargo Protection

Basic Liability coverage is included in the transportation rates. This amount is a maximum liability of 60 cents per pound per article. For example: if a table is damaged and weighs 20 pounds, the maximum amount the mover is liable for repairs or replacement is 60 cents X 20 pounds = $12.00.

Professional movers offer replacement cost protection which covers repairs or replacement if the movers damage an item. There is a cost for this coverage, and it is well worth it.
